Zen, a project manager at a consulting company, loves dancing because it brings out her truest self. With 10 years of training at the Shiamak Davar's Institute of Performing Arts in Bombay, dance had always been an integral part of her. As soon as she arrived in NYC in 2011, Bollywood Funk became a very important part of her life. She started as a student and quickly moved on to the Teacher Training program, assisting Ayesha in classes. She graduated from the program and began teaching in 2013. Zen loves Bollywood and NYC and feels ecstatic that she gets to have them both!

Zen loves teaching because it gives her the chance to make a difference in people's lives through an art form that she is so deeply passionate about. She feels humbled by the opportunity that she has been given to spread happiness and boost other people’s confidence.

Interests: Selfies (aka zenfies), stretches, stand-up comedy shows
  • Hitesh

Hitesh, a technologist with a PhD in Polymer Science and Engineering, hails from the balmy city of Mumbai and spends his days (when he is not dancing!) working in the oil industry.
Hitesh started training at age 11 in Western and Bollywood dance. He participated and choreographed numerous performances during his undergraduate and graduate school days.
Upon first moving to New Jersey in 2012, he took his first class at BFunk after which there was no looking back! Hitesh soon found that Bollywood Funk was the only place where he could express his ‘dorky’ self.

In just 3 short years, he has learned and grown so much as a dancer and an instructor through his Bollywood Funk family. For Hitesh, dancing is happiness and an integral part of his life; he feels privileged to have the ability to share this happiness with others.

Interests: Troubling instructor Zen, Salman Khan/Govinda songs, Brewing Organic Ales
  • Sahil

Sahil is an integration manager for a healthcare software firm and loves his job! But more than his job he loves to DANCE! Sahil's dance journey started with Ayesha fifteen years ago at the acclaimed Danceworx Performing Arts Academy in New Delhi, India. During his time as a student Sahil enjoyed learning many forms of dance including jazz, hip-hop, lyrical, ballet and contemporary from Ashley Lobo (renowned bollywood choreographer). A natural performer he soon won dance scholarships and went on to assist and instruct classes at Danceworx. Sahil ventured into learning/teaching latin dance forms next under Kaytee Namgyal at salsa-India where he was trained in salsa, bachata, merengue and cha-cha.
Sahil's love for dance only grew with time and he learnt Kathak and bollywood dance at Mudra Dance Studio in Denver,Colorado. Sahil taught Bollywood fusion dance in downtown Denver at BharArt studios before moving to NYC where he reunited with Ayesha! Only a year old at Bfunk, Sahil performs for the company, assists classes and is the IT brainchild for BFunk! His infectious energy and bright smile is bound to attract anyone around him. Sahil strongly believes that passion is the only prerequisite to learn dance! And yes, Sahil cannot sing but he can spin-spin-spin-spin!!

Interests: commenting on everything Ayesha says, superhero movies, spins!
  • Juhi

Juhi, born in Manhattan, grew from a shy young girl into the passionate young woman she is today through her years with Bollywood Funk. Juhi joined Basic Beginners as a teenager, with absolutely no experience in dance, and became immediately hooked, working her way up to dance teacher. Getting involved with Bollywood Funk has been a life-altering experience, allowing her to become a version of herself that she had kept under wraps for so long. What she loves most about BFunk is that it encourages everyone to be their best, and gives everyone the chance to represent the institution on huge platforms.

Juhi absolutely loves performing. The thrill of being on stage and expressing different kinds of emotions in front of people is so powerful, according to her. She recently graduated from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University with a major in Arts & Entertainment Management and is excited about what her future has in store for her.

Interests: Ice Cream, puppies, making people smile.
  • Abhishek

An IT consultant by day, Abhishek also hails from a dance family. His dancing career started when he learned Indian Classical Dance (Bharatanatyam). He also earned a part time scholarship at Swingers Dance Academy Chennai, and was trained in hip hop, jazz and contemporary dance style. Originally hailing from Chennai, India, finding Bollywood Funk was a ‘beautiful accident’ for Abhishek. The school had just opened its center in Jersey City and was offering trial classes. He found that he quickly related to the dance and the passion that fueled it. Shortly thereafter, he began performing for BFunk.

Dancing allows Abhishek to express himself mentally and emotionally, giving him the opportunity to connect his body and soul. Bollywood Funk holds a very special place in his heart, mostly because of all the creativity, community bonding and the skillful trainers that have become an important part of his life. For Abhishek, teaching is a beautiful blend of art; to him, the best feeling a dance trainer can get is passing on positive energy and having that energy resonate with his students.

Interests: Rajnikanth, convincing Director Ayesha to do a Tamil song, dance stunts.
